Fitness Update

When I last posted about fitness I had just joined a No Excuse Moms 12 week Challenge. Unfortunately, I didn't do as well as I had hoped. I was under a lot of stress due to school and personal issues. After the contest was over I began to gain weight. Probably due to the holidays but also lack of motivation.

This is probably the first time I've gained what people like to call "holiday weight" and it was also probably some of the most stressful months of my life so far. But I can say that all of that is behind me now and all the things that were causing so much stress in my life have been resolved.  Now I can focus on my own well being.

I may have gained weight but I'm staying positive and making changes.

Cleaning up my diet was step one. The whole family is eating about 80% clean and more fish, fruits and veggies.

Another huge change: I started lifting weights.

For the longest time I've read all the benefits of lifting but I kind of just ignored it. Honestly, I just didn't know where or how to start lifting. I was a little afraid of embarrassing myself so I avoided it. However this has all changed. I recently joined a gym offers weight training classes and has a trainer on staff to help. Two weeks in and I can definitely feel a difference; dare I say see a difference? Because two weeks in and I can already notice little changes. I'm still doing cardio--of course--zumba, interval training on the elliptical and piloxing, all of which give me a great workout. But I wholeheartedly  believe lifting is what's making the greatest difference.

I can't believe that I've been avoiding lifting for this long.
